USEFUL INFORMATION

How to make reservations:

Your Travel Agent, or our office will handle your reservation free of charge.

Passports: United States citizens require a valid passport only.  Non US citizens should check the requirements for their particular country of citizenship.  Vaccinations are not required

Smoking: Smoking during group meals is not permitted.  Smoking is not permitted when traveling by minivan or minibus.  Not applicable to all tours.

Electricity: Most hotels in France supply 220 volts 50 Hz service.  Some electric hair dryers and electric razors are dual voltage. Those that are not will require an electrical converter and adapters if you wish to use them.  Inspect yours.  Consider purchasing these items in Europe.

Air Conditioning: Please be advised that foreign air conditioning systems in public places and hotels may not be up to US standards.

Duty Free: The present duty free allowance for a person returning to the USA from Europe is $400.00 a person.

What to wear: France is more formal than the United States, and so is the appropriate dress. Comfortable sport cloths are acceptable for museum visits, shopping, and traveling.  On visits to elegant restaurants, and chateaux, casual jeans and tea shirts would not be appropriate.

Some cathedrals and churches in France will not permit entry to anyone in shorts or with bare shoulders.  Casinos may also prohibit shorts and require men in a jacket and tie.

During evening dinner, women in evening dress and men in a sport jacket would be most appropriate.  A tie is optional.

It is very important that you wear comfortable walking shoes. Sun glasses are also recommended.  A sweater, medium weight jacket and scarf are recommended during the cooler months and in the Alps.

You may also want to bring a bathing suite since many of our hotels offer swimming pool or spa facilities.

Luggage

We have found that the easiest luggage to tote has four wheels that caster and a telescoping handle.  Also luggage that lets you piggy back one bag on the other frees up a hand.  Experienced travelers pack light.  Pack only what you know you will need.
